The paper presents a method for analysing a plane framed structure having semirigid joints. There are no restrictions as to the degree of redundancy of the structure or of its supports. The stiffness method of analysis, incorporating matrix algebra has been used. An iterative process has been included to account for the effect of moment change caused by axial loads in deformed members. A comparison between experimental and computed deflections of two timber trusses with semi-rigid joints has been made. A description of a computer program based on the theory presented is given in Appendix II.
