"Since 1963 the Agricultural Physics Section of the CSIRO, Division of Plant Industry in Canberra, in collaboration with the CSIRO, Division of Meteorological Physics, has been studying evaporation in the field with a weighing lysimeter similar in essentials to that described by McIlroy and Sumner (1961). The 100 acre field in which the lysimeter is installed is part of a farming property about 10 miles from Canberra. The filed is managed by the farmer under a system considered to be reasonably representative of agricultural practice in the area." -- p. 25.
